Infographic “Phytoparasitic Nematodes” – the invisible enemy of agriculture

The TERRA Associate Laboratory, in collaboration with NEMATO-lab at the Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE), launches a new infographic dedicated to phytoparasitic nematodes — microscopic organisms that severely affect agricultural production.

Phytoparasitic nematodes are microscopic organisms that live in the soil and attack plant roots, causing significant losses in global agricultural production. With over 4,000 identified species and an economic impact exceeding €100 billion per year, these parasites represent a silent but urgent challenge to agricultural sustainability.

To support awareness and sustainable control of these organisms, the TERRA Associate Laboratory is launching a new infographic developed by NEMATO-lab at the Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE). In an accessible and visual way, the content highlights:
• The main nematode genera of economic importance
• The most affected agricultural crops
• Sustainable strategies available for their control
