I am employed as an Auxiliar Researcher (FCT CEEC) at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning, University of Lisbon. Before moving to Lisbon I was Marie Curie Fellow at the School of Geography, University of Leeds. I hold a PhD in Human Geography (Cardiff University) and a PhD in Art History (University of Barcelona). My research lies at the intersection of urban and tourism studies. I am an established expert on short-term rentals, tourism-led gentrification and how digital platforms such as Airbnb are restructuring local housing markets. My work has been published in leading international journals such as Urban Studies, Environment and Planning A, Population, Space and Place, Cities, Geoforum and Tourism Management Perspectives, among others; In terms of funding and leadership, I have demonstrated an outstanding ability to obtain competitive research grants as Principal Investigator and Lead Partner. In the past 4 years I received 650,000 euros in research funding from both the European Commission Horizon 2020 program and the FCT. At the University of Lisbon I have led two projects, coordinating a team of 12 colleagues, including the supervision of three post-doctoral researchers. Currently, I supervise 8 PhD students on the fields of tourism mobilities, short-term rentals, and urban change. My aim is to implement policy-oriented research and I have obtained significant impact with non-academic sectors, including policy makers and the media.

Akli Benali completed the Integrated Masters in Environmental Enginnering in 2008 by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia and the PhD in Sustainable Forests and Products in 2018 by the Universidade de Lisboa Instituto Superior de Agronomia, where he is currently a Researcher. He has participated in more than 10 research and consulting projects, with different associated roles. He has published around 30 scientific papers, most of them, in relevant journals. In the last years, he has fostered the research and development of scientific work that can be applied in practice by stakeholders related with wildfires and landscape management. He has developed multiple partnerships with practicitioners, such as the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, Special Civil Protection Force, Municipalities, Forest Associations and land owners. Akli Benali continues to pursue the implementation of scientific knowledge and products with the aim of improving decision-making in the prevention, suppression and recovery of wildfires in Portugal.

Alan Ager is an Emeritus Scientist with the USDA Forest Service Fire Sciences Laboratory in Missoula Montana. Ager also holds a Professor position in the Forest Research Centre at the University of Lisbon, and a Courtesy Faculty appointment at Oregon State University. He received his BS and PhD degrees in Forest Science from the University of Washington and an MS degree in plant genetics from the University of Wisconsin. Ager started working for the Forest Service in 1987 and since then has conducted research on a wide range of forest management issues, most recently wildfire risk and scenario planning. Alan and his research group mapped wildfire risk transmission to communities and combined this information with other land condition assessments to explore cross boundary investment scenarios as part of shared stewardship efforts. In related work Alan’s group are experimenting with forest landscape models to understand synergies between wildfire and forest management to improve landscape resiliency on fire excluded western forests. In prior work he developed several decision support systems that have been widely used in the management and research environment. He has served as an advisor to a number of PhD students and sponsored several Forest Service International Scholars. His international work experience includes stints in Kenya, Ukraine, Sardinia, France, Portugal, Greece, and Sweden.

Alexandra Correia is currently an Assistant Researcher at INIAV IP (CEECINST/00012/2018/CP1502/CT0003) with more than 20 years of experience dedicated to forestry research projects. The Pi has a degree in Forest Engineering and Natural Resources Management, a master in Plant Production and a PhD in Forest Engineering since 2013, from ISA. She coordinated one FCT competitive research project (https://doi.org/10.54499/PCIF/MOS/0012/2019) and other 3 as a institutional coordinator, including an Operational group and a PRR Transform Agenda. Collaborated in 13 national and 6 international projects. Has a total of 22 research papers in international referee journals, 5 book chapter and more than 60 communications in national and international dissemination events. Organized 10 national and international events and is currently mentoring 16 students (3 grants, 11 masters and 2 PhDs) some of them already finished. Alexandra Correia has a strong background on ecophysiology monitoring of Mediterranean woody species, with experience in soil-plant-atmosphere monitoring particularly carbon and water fluxes in trees, shrubs, herbaceous and soil level focusing on the impacts of seasonal droughts on ecosystem productivity and plant functioning. Experience in carbon sequestration monitoring, analysis and interpretation using outputs from the eddy-covariance method. Modelling carbon stock using biomass alometric equations according with IPCC guidelines. Applied ecological studies using tree rings, remote sensing techniques, phenology monitoring approaches to study the responses to abiotic stresses. Several topics regarding forest management and adaptative silviculture, namely Pinus pinea fertirrigation, Quercus suber stripping, improved pastures in soil quality and productivity, Eucalyptus globulus soil residues and organic material management in species growth and response to biotic and abiotic stresses. The last 7 years have been dedicated to the study of species mixtures (Pinus pinea and Quercus suber) to increase resilience to environmental changes.

Degree in History and PhD in Human Geography both at the University of Lisbon (2012) and a PhD in Education at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2019). Researcher at the Centre for Geographical Studies of the Institute of Geography and Planning Territory of the University of Lisbon. Assistant Professor of the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. Professor of scientific disciplines and teaching methods for History, Geography and Social Studies in the initial training courses of Basic Education teachers (0-12 years).
Since 1987 he has been researching Macau Modern History, with several papers, chapters of books, and books published. The last research was about the Macanese Diaspora, and published two books about this issue: Diáspora Macaense. Macau, Hong Kong e Xangai, 1842-1952 (Lisbon, 2014) and Diáspora Macaense. Territórios, Itinerários e Processos de Integração, 1936-1995 (Macau, 2016). Last book published Macau entre Repúblicas (Lisboa, 2022).
Author of several articles and book chapters on Didactics of Social Sciences, History and Geography. Participation in congresses and symposiums in Portugal and abroad. Participation in national and international research projects on Didactics of Social Sciences and Education for Global Citizenship.

Alina Esteves completed her PhD in Geography on 2005/04/21 at the University of Lisbon. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Lisbon Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning. Co-coordinator of the Migrare Research Group – Migrations, Spaces and Societies at the Center for Geographical Studies. Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Human Geography at IGOT-ULisboa. Member of the School Council of IGOT-ULisboa. Country coordinator for Portugal of the “European Web Site on Integration” (EWSI), whose general coordination is ensured by the Migration Policy Group (Brussels). Member (representative of teachers) of the Equality Committee of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon. He has published several articles in specialized journals in the area of ​​migration (Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies), population (Population, Space and Place), Geography (Finisterra). He works in the area(s) of Social Sciences with an emphasis on Economic and Social Geography and has participated in several national and international projects with competitive funding. It is part of the network of research centers in the area of ​​international migration – IMISCOE. He has supervised several doctoral and master’s students in the areas of Economic and Social Geography.

Amandine Desille. Completed her PhD in Medicina in 2016 by Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Licenciatura in Medicina in 1984 by Universidade de Lisboa Faculdade de Medicina. For several years, she coordinated the Portuguese Society of Cardiology (SPC) Exercise/Cardiovascular Rehabilitation (CR) working group and the European Association of Preventive Cardiology (EAPC) CR Section, participating in advocacy, membership, education, accreditation committees, and EAPC certification process for Preventive Card. She currently coordinates the CR Centre (FMUL/CHULN/CRECUL), the first in Portugal, and one of the first in Europe, to be accredited by the European Society of Cardiology, and published the minimal standards/quality indicators on behalf of SPC and EAPC. Presently, she is a Professor of Cardiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL), cardiologist at Hospital de Santa Maria, Director of Instituto de Saúde Ambiental and Instuto de Medina Preventiva e Saúde Pública, member of CCUL and CAML. She is the current President-elect of EAPC and coordinator of CV risk and prevention WG of SPC. Very recently, she participated in the University of Lisbon proposal for a PhD on Planetary Health and has a project for structured Planetary Health studies in Medicine. She is the National Coordinator of the Interaspire study, the Euroaspire VI study and the Coroprevention study. Her professional trajectory starts as general cardiologist, differentiates in stress/exercise, progresses to a broader area of CV Prevention, CR and to a more enlarged area of Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health and Medicine. She published several scientific articles in national and internation high impact journals, public journals, magazines, book chapters and is an editor of scientific books and journals, as well as a reviewer. Organized and participated in different events. She currently supervises 3 PhD thesis. Has received awards and/or honours and participated in several research projects (national and international). She received a Grant of the Portuguese Society of Cardiology (SPC) for Research in Nuclear Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine and a FCT Grant for “Benefit of High Intensity Exercise Training in Heart Failure patients submitted to Cardiac resynchronizers (BETTER-HF). She was responsible for the creation of a Digital program REC-CASA for patients in cardiac rehabilitation (CR) during Covid-19, that was posteriorly elected as one of the finalists for the Award “Boas Práticas em Saúde”, of Ministry of Health and was responsible for the creation of the CV Rehabilitation Master Course at FMUL, the first in Portugal, one of the first in Europe. She contributed to the development of the EXPERT flowchart Tool Development, a digital exercise prescription tool (University of Hasselt, ESC), the development of European Standards and Quality criteria for CR Programs in EAPC/ESC and the development of European Certification Program for the title of Specialist of Preventive Cardiology EAPC/ESC. She is a Member of Committees for Education, Advocacy, Membership of EAPC and Member of many scientific committees of national and international congresses. President of 2 International congresses on Preventive Cardiology of EAPC/ESC and Host committee of 2 International congresses (International Nuclear Cardiology and ESC Prev Cardiology in Lisbon), Senior advisor of 2 ESC Preventive Cardiology Congresses, and member of scientific committee of 1st Tropical Summit. She is an Invited Speaker and moderator in many international congresses in Egypt, Morocco, Romania, Azerbaijan, Spain , Italy, Crete, Greece, England, France, USA, Brazil, Ecuador, Germany, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Croatia. ~ Her main focus, in clinical, research and advocacy are now: CV Risk and Prevention, CV and NCDs Rehabilitation, Environmental and Planetary Health.

Ana Maria Martins Alves. He completed his PhD in Forestry Engineering in 2011 from the University of Lisbon Instituto Superior de Agronomia, a Master’s degree in Engineering of Lignocellulosic Materials in 2004 from the University of Lisbon Instituto Superior de Agronomia, a Degree in Forestry Engineering in 2001 from the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco Escola Superior Agrária and a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry Engineering in 1999 from the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco Escola Superior Agrária. He is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Lisbon Higher Institute of Agronomy Department of Forestry Engineering and a Contract Researcher at the University of Lisbon Higher Institute of Agronomy. Received 3 awards and/or honors.

Ana Carina Azevedo (HTC – NOVA FCSH – CFE/UC) holds a PhD in History (Contemporary History), from Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, with the thesis “Scientific Management in Portugal after World War II (1945-1974)”. She is a researcher at NOVA FCSH and her main research interests are related to the Portuguese History of the 20th century, namely Economic and Social History, Labor History and the History of Public Administration. She has also developed some work on Heritage Studies. She has collaborated in several research projects, such as “Portugal 1914-1918” and “História e Arquivo Ciência Viva – Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica e Tecnológica”. She recently concluded a post-doctoral research project, with funding from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, titled “A State in search of effectiveness? Administrative Reforms of the “Estado Novo” in historical perspective (1933-1974)”.

Ana D. Caperta is an Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA), Universidade de Lisboa, since 2019. She completed the PhD in Biology at ISA by ULisboa, Master in Plant Production – Plant Breeding in 1996 by ISA/ULisboa, and Graduation in Agronomic engineering – Plant Breeding in 1993 by ISA/ULisboa. She has received various awards including three Postdoctoral fellowships by FCT on plant reproduction. She was an Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, Lisboa (2001-2013). As a Researcher of Program Ciência 2008, she implemented a research line in Plant Reproduction and Conservation at ISA. Ana D. Caperta collaborated on curricular units from the 3 cycles at ISA and in the MSc on Biotechnology in the University Eduardo Mondlane (Mozambique). She is affiliated in the Society of Experimental Biology, Sociedade Portuguesa de Botânica, and is a consultant for Flora On (flora-on.pt) and eHaloph databases (sussex.ac.uk). She is the Associate Editor on Botany for Revista de Ciências Agrárias (scap.pt). She led several national and international research projects. Ana D. Caperta curates a Limonium (sea lavenders) collection at ISA. In her professional activities she interacted with 34 collaborator(s) with co-authorship of scientific papers. Ana Filipa Filipe is a Auxiliar Researcher at Instituto Superior de Agronomia (Universidade de Lisboa). Completed her PhD in Ecology in 2010 by Universidade de Lisboa and graduated in Biology in 1998 by the same faculty. Published 48 articles indexed in Web of Science, 4 book chapters and 4 books. Ana Filipa is principal investigator of the project ‘AQUADAPT – Promoting riverine ecosystems resilient to climate change for a sustainable management ‘ (funded by Fundacion La Caixa; Promove PD20-00008), and was principal investigator of the project ‘FRESHING: Next-generation biomonitoring: freshwater bioassessment and species conservation improved with metagenomics’ (funded by FCT; PTDC/AAG-MAA/2261/2014), and participated as a researcher in 18 projects. Revised articles from more than 20 research ISI indexed journals. Ana Filipa is associate editor of Diversity and Distributions (DDI) and Frontiers Ecology and Evolution journals, and subject editor of Metabarcoding and Metagenomics (MbMg) journal. Gave 51 oral presentations in congresses, seminars and workshops. Organized 11 scientific events. Co-supervised 2 PhD thesis and 2 Master thesis, and supervises 1 Master thesis. Works in Natural Sciences with emphasis on Freshwater Ecology, Biodiversity Conservation and Evolutionary Biology. Also works as a scientific illustrator since 2000 and produces ilustrations and maps for science communication. She received 6 awards and honors. Her teaching and research areas of interest include: Urban Cultural Studies, Urban Sociology, Cultural Geography, Tourism and Leisure, Tourism and Education, Inclusive Tourism, Community-based Tourism, the Commons, Intergenerationality, Languages for Specific Purposes, Pedagogy, and Active Teaching-Learning Methodologies. Since 2014, she has participated as a member of collaborator of different research projects funded by the Portuguese Agency for Science and Technology (FCT), the Portuguese General Directorate for Higher Education (DGES), the Erasmus+ Portuguese Agency, the European Cultural Foundation, and Leonardo da Vinci. She has presented c. 100 talks at national and international conferences and she is the author of up to 50 publications, namely the book Reinventing a Small, Worldly City: The Cultural and Social Transformation of Cardiff, published in 2017 by Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group. She has been the recipient of up to 20 grants, distinctions, and prizes by renowned institutions (European Cultural Foundation, Europa Nostra Awards, ENCATC, FCT, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Marie Curie Actions, Luso-American Foundation, and the Portuguese National Agency for Innovation – ANI). She has also been an external expert/evaluator for the European Commission (Directorate-General Regional and Urban Policy and Research Executive Agency), the Erasmus+ National Agency, and the Fundação Cidade de Lisboa (Lisbon City Foundation), as well as a reviewer for more than 15 national and international journals in urban studies, cultural studies, tourism, intergenerational studies, education, and languages. She is Associate Editor of the Journal of Intergenerational Relationships and Member of the Editorial Board of the Language Learning in Higher Education, the New Trends in Qualitative Research journal, the Ler Educação, and EduSer. She is also a member of the executive committee of ReCLes.pt – the Portuguese Association of Language Centres in Portuguese Higher Education since 2021.

He completed his PhD in Land Cover Mapping in the Southern Hemisphere of Africa, using satellite images in 2005 from the Instituto Investigação Cientifica Tropical (Public Examinations equivalent to a PhD), a Master’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems in 1999 from the University of Lisbon Instituto Superior Técnico and a Degree in Geographic Engineer in 1994 from the University of Lisbon Faculty of Sciences.

Anna Isabel Inácio. She is an Assistant Professor at ISG – Business & Economics School (2022) and Professor. Guest Assistant at the Catholic University of Portugal (FCH) (2023). She is the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Course in Tourism Management. Completed his PhD in Geography, Regional and Urban Planning in 2009 from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon; the Master’s Degree in Communication, Culture and Information Technologies in 2001 from ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon; a Degree in Social and Cultural Communication in 1997 from the Catholic University of Portugal, Faculty of Human Sciences, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Administration of Tour Operators in 1995 from the Estoril School of Hotel Management and Tourism. He is an integrated researcher at the Center for Geographical Studies of the University of Lisbon, in the Territur nucleus. He is also a guest researcher at CIGEST – ISG Management Research Center. He has published books, book chapters, Scopus articles, articles in specialized journals, encyclopedias and specialized dictionaries, among other works. He received 2 FCT scholarships. He has participated in several research projects and private consultancy work. Works in the area(s) of Social Sciences with emphasis on Economic and Social Geography and Communication Sciences. He has supervised several master’s and doctoral theses.

Ana Ligia Primo completed her PhD in Biology (Speciality in Ecology) in 2012 by the University of Coimbra, Faculty of Science and Technology. She is currently a Junior researcher in the Centre for Functional Ecology of the University of Coimbra. She is currently Researcher at the Centre for Functional Ecology in the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Coimbra, She published 29 articles in peer reviewer journals and has 1 book section. Participated in the organisation of 11 events and participated in other 15 . She Co-supervised 1 PhD thesis, supervised 1 MSc dissertation and co-supervised 4. She participate as a researcher in several projects. Works in the area of Natural sciences with emphasis on Marine ecology. In their professional activities interacted with 143 collaborators with co-authorship in scientific papers. Ana Lourenço is a Forestry Engineer since 2004, has completed her Masters in Forest Engineering and Natural Resources in 2008 and a PhD in 2012 at the School of Agriculture, Technical University of Lisbon, presently University of Lisbon. She has been awarded in 2014 with a postdoctoral fellowship by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), in 2019 a research contract and now is a Tenure assistant researcher. RESEARCH: work in the chemistry of lignocellulosic materials using a multi-analytical approach, e.g. GC/MS, Py-GC/MS, FTIR, NIR and NMR. Her focus is on integrating the resources and developing bio-based products under the biorefinery concept, the circular economy, and the zero-waste philosophy. MEMBERSHIP: She is an integrated member of the Forest Research Center (CEF), belonging to the research group ForTec: Forest Products and Biorefineries. She is also a member of the Portuguese Association of Technicians of the Pulp and Paper Industries (Tecnicelpa), Ibero-American Society for the Development of Biorefineries (SIADEB), the Red Iberoamericana de Docencia e Investigacíon en Celulosa y Papel (RIADICYP), the Portuguese Society of Forestry Sciences (SPCF) and the College of Chemistry of the University of Lisbon (CQUL). NETWORKING: To boost her knowledge and exchange experiences, she has been in four short-term missions: IRNAS with Jose Carlos del Río (Seville, 2014), INIA with Juan Carlos Villar (Madrid, 2015), Aveiro University with Dmitry Evtuguin (Aveiro, 2018, 2019), INRAE-FARE with Brigitte Chabbert (Reims, 2021), University of Barcelona with Emilia Gutierrez (Barcelona, 2023). PROJECTS: During the last years, she integrated the team of 19 R&D projects (14 national and five international). At this time, she has a total of 62 articles published in international journals with scientific referees, six book chapters and 85 publications in proceedings (presented at international and national conferences) and regularly reviews for 20 scientific journals. Her h-index is 24. TEACHING: She collaborated in the teaching of Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees in ISA, and was co-supervisor of one Master Degree thesis, supervisor of one Master thesis. Now she belongs to the supervisor team of one master and two Doctoral theses. Received two researchers under STSM of the LignoCost Action in 2020 and one under Erasmus+. Until 2025, her work had contributed for 7 Policy documents.
