Nuno Capela

I’m an ecologist working with honeybees while developing my PhD thesis in the University of Coimbra, Portugal. During the thesis I have has participated in national projects (e.g., GO Fitoglobulus) to evaluate the risk of neonicotinoids spraying in honeybee colonies health, a SODUE project (INTERREG POLL-OLE-GI) to evaluate the resources use and colony development on oleaginous crops landscapes and EU projects (i.e., OC/EFSA/SCER/2017/02, B-GOOD) to gather data on honey bees’ colony development to understand how the multiple stressors that bees are exposed to, will affect colony development. Besides, I have participated in the validation/development of segments of the ApisRam model (i.e., foraging module) using the data collected during the PhD. I have also participated in the development of the European Union Bee Partnership Platform (EUBPP), mainly in the development of the algorithms for the automatic analysis of honeybee colony data, to create a functional platform to integrate honey bees’ automatic data (e.g., colony weight data) for all Europe.
