LEAF/TERRA researchers publish international work on rural landscape planning
An international work coordinated by LEAF/TERRA researchers proposes innovative approaches to rural landscape planning, with direct application to the national context.
Natália Cunha and Manuela Raposo Magalhães, researchers at LEAF – Linking Landscape, Environment, Agriculture And Food and the TERRA Associate Laboratory, coordinated the publication of the new book “Planning Rural Landscapes”, published by the international publishing house Taylor & Francis – Routledge, dedicated to rural landscape planning.
The book brings together contributions from more than 20 European experts and proposes a practical, interdisciplinary methodology for defining green infrastructure (GI) in rural landscapes. The book demonstrates how GI can support ecosystem services, frame nature-based solutions and align with relevant European directives.
With examples applied to the Portuguese context and international experiences, the book highlights the versatility of GI at different territorial scales.
This book is an essential resource for planning professionals, researchers, policy-makers and academic institutions, promoting a more informed and sustainable debate on territorial management.
