European Funding Info Session Brings TERRA Researchers Together with ANI at TERRA Headquarters
Decorreu no passado dia 15 de maio, na Sala de reuniões TERRA, uma sessão de esclarecimento sobre financiamento europeu promovida em estreita colaboração entre o Laboratório Associado TERRA e a Agência Nacional de Inovação (ANI), com o objetivo de informar e capacitar investigadores e gestores de ciência das Unidades de Investigação TERRA para as oportunidades do Horizonte Europa, nomeadamente no Pilar 2 – Clusters e Missões.
The session was led by Maria João Fernandes (ANI), who provided a clear and comprehensive overview of the funding instruments available through Horizon Europe, as well as ANI’s support throughout the entire project lifecycle. Moderation and facilitation of the interaction—both in person and online—were handled by science manager Sofia Viegas, ensuring an engaging and informative atmosphere.
One of the most enriching segments of the session was the sharing of first-hand experiences by TERRA researchers who have coordinated, participated in, or evaluated funded projects. The panel included Paulo Morgado, researcher at CEG (Centre for Geographical Studies), Ana Virgolino, researcher at ISAMB (Institute of Environmental Health), and David Fangueiro, researcher at LEAF – Linking Landscape, Environment, Agriculture and Food, who also contributed in his capacity as a European project evaluator.
These testimonies allowed for the discussion of practical challenges in proposal development, best practices in project coordination, and helpful advice for those beginning their journey in European research funding programmes.
This session reflects TERRA’s mission to strengthen the capacity of its researchers and to promote a culture of excellence in international project participation—especially in a context where sustainability, innovation, and societal impact are key drivers of science.
