TERRA Associate Laboratory Releases Video of Debate on the EU-Mercosur Agreement
TERRA has just released the video of the debate “Beyond Trade: Building a Sustainable Partnership between the EU and Mercosur,” held on March 14. The event brought together experts from various fields to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the Mercosur agreement, analyzing its economic, environmental, and political impacts through the lens of TERRA’s mission. The high-level panel included: Helder Sousa Silva, Member of the European Parliament; Francisco Gomes da Silva, CEO of Agro GES; Ricardo Teixeira, Researcher at Instituto Superior Técnico; Paulo Miguel Madeira, Researcher at the Centre for Geographical Studies; and was moderated by Andrea Valente, Professor at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences.
The partnership between the European Union and Mercosur has sparked widespread debate, raising fundamental questions around sustainability, agricultural and industrial trade, as well as the political and regulatory challenges involved. In this event hosted by the TERRA Associate Laboratory, the panel of specialists examined the implications of the agreement and explored pathways toward building a more sustainable and balanced model for the future of trade relations between the two blocs.
