José Manuel C. Pereira (CEF/TERRA) participates in AlterCOP30 Portugal

José Manuel C. Pereira, researcher at the Forest Research Centre (CEF) and member of the TERRA Associate Laboratory, participated in AlterCOP 30 Portugal with the presentation “Changing Wildfires.” The researcher was one of the guest speakers on the panel discussion “Building Climate Resilience in a Changing Landscape” to explore the challenges and opportunities for resilience in the face of the impacts of forest fires, policy innovation, and community involvement.

This was the first national edition of this global initiative, a partnership between Ismaili CIVIC Portugal and the Aga Khan Foundation Portugal, which addressed the theme “Resilient Communities: Building Climate Futures Together.”

A AlterCOP is an independent platform designed to monitor the outcomes of the Conferences of the Parties (COP), promoting the alignment of global debate with local realities. By bringing together various sectors of civil society, it fosters collaborative learning and inspires concrete actions around sustainability and climate resilience.

José Manuel C. Pereira’s participation reflects the mission of the TERRA Associate Laboratory, which seeks to respond to societal challenges through applied science and collaboration between researchers, decision-makers, and communities.
