CFE/TERRA scientists record module on sustainable land use for MOOC of the European project Europe-LAND
Recording took place at the FCCN studio in Lisbon, as part of the Europe-LAND project, which promotes integrated policies to address the challenges of climate change and biodiversity.
Scientists from the Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE), a research unit of the TERRA Associate Laboratory, participated in the recording of the module “Land Use and Sustainability in Europe: From Policy to Practice,“ part of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) of the European project “Towards Sustainable Land-Use in the Context of Climate Change and Biodiversity in Europe (Europe-LAND)”, of which the CFE is a partner.
This module addresses the complex interconnections between climate and nature, highlighting the importance of adopting integrated and inclusive policies as a foundation for building a more sustainable future in Europe. In line with the objectives of the Europe-LAND project, the content aims to promote a deeper understanding of the factors that influence land use decisions through the development, testing, and implementation of innovative tools that support more responsible and resilient territorial practices.
The recordings featured CFE/TERRA scientists Miguel Ferreira, Fernanda Garcia, and Miguel Moreira. Through dissemination activities such as this MOOC, the Europe-LAND consortium promotes knowledge transfer to policy makers, local and national authorities, land users, and regulatory bodies, contributing to more efficient and socially responsible land management.
The recording took place at the FCCN facilities—a unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) dedicated to digital services—which provides high-speed connectivity and technological solutions to the higher education and research system in Portugal.
