Angela Inácio, completed her PhD in Biology in 2005 at the University of Lisbon. During his PhD project, he developed his research work at the Genetics Department of the National Institute of Health Dr Ricardo Jorge and at the University of Pennsylvania, in the United States. During this period (in 2002) she joined (part-time) the teaching staff of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, at the time as a Guest Assistant, a position she held until 2005. After completing her Doctorate, her collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine remained part-time, but changed to Guest Assistant Professor, a position she holds to this day. After his PhD, he did a Post-Doctorate at the Genetics Department of the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge (2005-2008). This was followed by a position as Science Researcher (2009-2013) at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. She is currently a researcher at the Bento da Rocha Cabral Scientific Research Institute. His research areas focus on genetics, gene expression and epigenetics.

Angeliki’s research interests lie primarily in urban sustainability transitions accelerated by nature-based solutions (NbS). Her focus is on understanding, measuring, assessing, and predicting the complexity of urban socio-eco-evolutionary dynamics, including an ecosystem services perspective in the process. By doing so, urbanization can be better planned, managed, and therefore, beneficial maximizing the socioeconomic benefits, and reducing its environmental impacts. Angeliki holds a PhD in Geography with a specialty in Regional and Urban Planning from the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning (IGOT), University of Lisbon (UL), and in Applied Landscape Ecology from (CULS) under cotutelle agreement. She graduated in 2022/04/19 with Distinction and Honors. She obtained her Master in MSc. Study Programme of Landscape Engineering in the study field of Landscape Planning in 2016/05/31 by the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Faculty of Environmental Sciences. She completed her BSc studies in Geography at Harokopio University of Athens, Greece (2012). Angeliki is an integrated researcher at the Forest Research Center (CEF) School of Agriculture, in a post-doc position working on MERLIN project (101036337-MERLIN-H2020-LC-GD-2020;22M¿; 44 EU partners) after winning an international competitive scholarship and a collaborator researcher of the research group Modeling, Land Use and Planning, Centre of Geographical Studies, IGOT. She is working in the areas of Engineering and Technology with an emphasis on Environmental Engineering, Social Sciences with emphasis on Economic and Social Geography with emphasis on Urban Studies, Engineering and Technology with emphasis on Environmental Engineering with emphasis on Remote Sensing and Exact Sciences with emphasis on Computer and Information Sciences. From 1971 he began studies on morphology of the mono spore mycelium of grapevine powdery mildew (Uncinula ne-cator). These trials were continued on biological behaviour of U. necator growing on leaf discs, conducting to the devel-opment of accurate methods to evaluate resistance of varieties and clones and morphological characterization of cell spherosomes. From 1978 he began to introduce plant breeding and quantitative genetics principles on classical clonal selection and on analysis of genetic variability within ancient grapevine varieties. This originated: the recognising of intravarietal genetic variability of the main Portuguese grapevine varieties, as the true raw material for selection, allowing better understanding of origin and evolution of varieties and better knowledge about the strategies of conservation; the development of a new selection methodology – Polyclonal selection – , and the obtaining of polyclonal selected materials; the development of a new clonal selection methodology strongly based on the study of genotype×environment interaction. He created and coordinates a Portuguese Selection Network that undergoes continuously selection all over the country and distributes polyclonal and clonal material to vinegrowers. In 2009, as representative of his Institution (Instituto Superior de Agrono-mia) was a founding member (among 13 others) and the main methodological contributor of the Portuguese Association for the grapevine diversity (PORVID). PORVID is a non-profit association that brings together the skills of knowledge producing entities, companies in the wine industry and other stakeholders in the areas of wine and biodiversity, for carry-ing out the conservation and utilization of the genetic diversity in old varieties and wild grapevine populations. Its key goal is the conservation of 50.000 representative genotypes of intra-varietal diversity of all autochthonous varieties in an Ex-perimental Pole provided by the State (in 2010), followed by their economic use (selection and others) through high effi-ciency innovative methods. He was President of the Portuguese Association for the grapevine diversity (PORVID) from its foundation until 2021. Member of the GENET expert group (International Organisation of Vine and Wine-OIV Portuguese commission). Member of the research centre Linking Landscape, Environment, Agriculture and Food (LEAF), Instituto Superior de Agronomia, University of Lisbon (ISA-UL).

Member of the National Water Council (2007-2012) and President of the College of Environmental Engineering (2007-2011) and member of Admission and Qualification at the Portuguese Institute of Engineers (Council 2016-2019). Main research interests focus are sustainable wastewater sanitation with a perspective of resources recovery regarding phosphorus, bioenergy and water reuse, as well as integrated water resources management and life cycle and risk analysis. 60 international peer reviewed papers among 200 publications with a h=26 score on Scopus and more than one thousand citations. António Portugal has a degree in Biology, a Master’s in Ecology and a PhD in Biology (Molecular Biology) from the University of Coimbra. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Life Sciences at UC, where he teaches various courses such as Genetics, Genetic Resources, Plant Pathology and Bioremediation. He is a researcher at the Centre for Functional Ecology and TERRA Associate Laboratory. His main area of research, linked to Microbiology and Mycology, is Biodeterioration, in particular Biodeterioration of Cultural Heritage. He has been working on Biodeterioration since 2005, on various types of support and items of cultural heritage, from paper and parchment documents, paintings, sculptures, stone monuments, among others, research based on various projects that he has led as PI. He has published dozens of scientific articles in international journals in the field. In parallel, he is Director of the FitoLab – Laboratory for Phytopathology of the Pedro Nunes Institute (IPN), where Plant Pathology, and in particular fungal plant diseases, is another of his research areas. This R&D laboratory is dedicated to the detection and investigation of plant pests and diseases. It provides services by carrying out tests for the screening and detection of quarantine organisms, regulated organisms and others, consultancy and research, integrating several consortium projects. He is the scientific coordinator of the Mycology and Virology areas at FitoLab. A sua principal área de investigação, ligada à Microbiologia e à Micologia, é a Biodeterioração, em particular a Biodeterioração de Património Cultural. Trabalha em Biodeterioração desde 2005, em vários tipos de suporte e itens de património cultural, desde documentos em papel e pergaminho, pinturas, esculturas, monumentos em pedra, entre outros, investigação essa alicerçada em vários projetos que tem liderado enquanto PI. Tem dezenas de artigos científicos publicados em revistas internacionais da área. Paralelamente, é Diretor do FitoLab – Laboratório de Fitossanidade do Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), sendo a Fitopatologia, e em particular as doenças fúngicas das plantas, outra das suas áreas de investigação. Este laboratório de I&D dedica-se à deteção e investigação de pragas e doenças das plantas atuando nas vertentes da prestação de serviços através da realização de ensaios para o despiste e deteção de organismos de quarentena, regulados e outros, consultoria e investigação, integrando projetos em consórcio. É coordenador científico das áreas da Micologia e Virologia no FitoLab.

AMonteiro is a geo-agroecologist focused on remote sensing modelling frameworks for conservation of mountain agro-forested landscapes under anthropogenic and climate change. Currently, he is Auxiliary Researcher (equiv. Assistant Professor) at IGOT-CEG, University of Lisbon. His approach is technological and oriented to innovative remote sensing approaches (i.e. artificial intelligence machine learning) and indicators (i.e. spectral biodiversity) to evaluate progresses towards policy objectives in mountain socio-ecological systems. The Biodiversity Strategy 2030 over grasslands, the deforestation in tropical mountain biodiversity hotspots and the reforestation in European forests are currently the target. This knowledge is supporting advanced studies (i.e. MSc), lecturing (i.e. Geocomputation) at IGOT-CEG, and active contribution in successful grant applications (i.e. ECOPOTENTIAL, EU-H2020; MARGISTAR CA21125, EU-Horizon Europe). His commitment is being gradually recognized by: co-leadership in European projects (Working Group 3 – MARGISTAR CA21125); leadership in advanced training (PEN-CAFoRR CA19128); key publishing; expansion of activities in new mountain regions together with international recognized teams (i.e. Artic (CNR), Angola & Madagascar (CIBIO-InBIO)); and by increasing media coverage of the research (i.e. Copernicus – ESA). Working since the 13th years old, the current position represents hard working and a compromise between academic duties and familiar care. He has a PhD in Agroecology from University of Milan (Italy) since 2011: PhD School ‘Earth, Environment and Biodiversity’, Faculty of Agriculture Sciences. During his PhD, he learned in mountain ecology and satellite remote sensing at Univ. of Basel (Inst. of Botany, Prof. Christian Korner), Univ. California-Berkeley (ESPM, Prof. Peng Gong) and University Technology Sydney (Prof. Alfredo Huete). In 2012, he returned to Europe for a junior researcher position at Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC, Italy). In 2013, he returned to Portugal and was postdoc researcher at CIBIO-InBIO until 2018. In 2019, he joined IGOT-CEG as junior research and in January 2024 became an auxiliary researcher. AMonteiro authored 31 publications in international peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journals in the areas of Remote Sensing, Land Cover/Use Change, Ecological Modelling, Geospatial Programming, Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Change. He has a h-index of 18 with over 1050 citations (source: google scholar), mean impact factor of 4.84 and cumulative impact factor of 126.4. He has other 28 contributes on chapters, technical reports and communications. He co-authored Q-PhenoMetrics and PI2GIS softwares. In 2017, he was member of the Copernicus Global Land Products Technical User Group (TUG) from European Space Agency (ESA). In 2018 and 2019, his research in Portuguese mountains was presented in the exhibition ‘SPACED – protecting natural landscapes from above’ in the European Parliament and covered by the ESA Copernicus magazine. In 2020, he was nominated by FCT as Portuguese delegate for the European COST action PEN-CAFoRR (CA19128). In 2021, he received the invitation from the Consiglio Nazionale Delle Ricerche (CNR)-Institute of Geoscience and Georesources (IGG, Pisa) to become Invited Associate Researcher. In 2022, he was nominated by FCT as delegate for the COST action MARGISTAR (CA 21125). At University of Lisbon, he is member of the College on Polar and Extreme Environments (Polar2E, since 2021) and of the PhD External Advisory Committee of the Agrinatura/ERAIFT of Tropical College (since 2023). He is member of the scientific commission of Branda Cientifica de São Bento do Cando- Peneda-Gerês, the new mountain research facility of Portugal. AMonteiro is 42 years old, married and father of three children.

António Jorge Velez Marques has a degree in Chemical Engineering (IST, 1986) and a PhD in Forestry Engineering (ISA, 1998). He began his academic activity at ISEL in 1980 and his teaching career in 1982. He has been a Coordinating Professor since 2003 and teaches and is responsible for several curricular units in the Chemical Engineering courses. His research career began at the Center for Forest Studies (CEF/ISA) in 1985 in the area of ​​Chemistry and Technology of Ligno-Cellulosic Materials and he is the author/co-author of several articles and communications and 2 international patents. In 2013 he was nominated by the European Patent Office (EPO) for the European Inventor’s Award in the Industry category and in 2008 he was awarded a prize by the UTL Rectorate for technology transfer to industry. He participated as a responsible/co-responsible researcher in several R&D projects financed by FCT and IPL and also in development projects financed by the cork industry. He was Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering at ISEL from 2014 to 2021.

Specialist in ENT at the Hospital de Santa Maria – CHULN since 1996, currently working as an ENT Hospital Assistant, he also assumes responsibility for teaching ENT in the Medicine and Health courses at the Catholic University of Angola, having with this collaboration, developed different forms of exchange between the ENT chair at FMUL and the teaching of ENT at other Universities in Angola. Among other activities, we highlight the extraordinary success of the Courses integrated in the AIMS Project (Skills in Otolaryngology Workshop, Airway Approach Workshop, ENT and Diving Workshop), and in the AEFML Practical Essentials Project (ENT Emergency Workshop, Cochlear Implant Workshop, Introduction to Ear Surgery Workshop, Child Airway Workshop, Key Points in ENT Practice Workshop), of the Workshops to present the Pedagogical Projects of the ENT Chair in 2021 and 2022, which have been shared with great enthusiasm by FMUL Students and Students and faculty from several Angolan Faculties, with the University of Cape Verde, Eduardo Mondlane University and UniLicungo University of Quelimane also being involved in 2022/2023/2024. Collaboration in the development of the notion of Global Health, from the perspective of ENT as a factor in the dynamization of pedagogical activities that have contributed greatly to stimulating the learning of ENT both for FMUL Students and for an extraordinary number of Students and Doctors in the Lusophone sphere. This action has been recognized by the Ministries of Education, Health and Science of Angola, and has even earned the Director of the Faculty of Medicine of Agostinho Neto University a thank you visit to our Faculty in 2023. There are several requests for more in-depth collaboration with FMUL from various institutions in relation to ENT and other distinct areas. Growing support in the construction of University Medicine in Angola, having supervised Doctoral Theses already defended at Nova Medical School and currently monitoring several Doctoral candidates. He has also been the supervisor of several Integrated Master’s Final Projects at our Faculty, and is very popular among our Students, as can be seen in the acknowledgements expressed in the projects themselves. We highlight the great support for the ENT E-Museum Project, which over the course of 10 years has been a strong attraction and generator of enthusiasm among our FMUL Students. Currently at the University Otorhinolaryngology Clinic, he managed to secure a prominent place for a Collection of Otorhinolaryngology Instruments at the Museum of Natural History and Science (MUNHAC). The fact that the Museum Project is developed with a strong and enthusiastic collaboration of FMUL Students has motivated a series of invitations to extremely prestigious events – International Museum Day, National Day of Scientific Culture, European Researchers’ Night, European Heritage Day. This entire project has attracted FMUL students from other years, the involvement of the AEFML Cultural Section and the I-Nerd Project.

Brígida Riso is a health sociologist and researcher. Her research interests are mainly biobanks, biomedical research, health in datified societies, and artificial intelligence. She has developed an original research on the relevance of biobanks in health configuration in the contemporary Portuguese society. Her approach usually combines sociology of health and illness and social studies of science, looking into ethics and research integrity. She has been an advocate and a trainer in research integrity and open science. Brígida holds a PhD in Sociology by Iscte-IUL, a MSc. in Health, Medicine & Society (Sociology of Health and Illness) and a degree in Nursing. Currently she is assistant professor (invited) at Lisbon School of Medicine.

He began his musical studies at the Banda de Tarouquela and at the Academia de Música de Castelo de Paiva, where he completed the complementary Clarinet course. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Musical Sciences and a master’s degree in Teaching Music Education from NOVA-FCSH. He completed his doctorate in Artistic Studies / Musical Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra with the highest grade (Approved with Distinction and Praise by Unanimity). He is a member of the Air Force Music Band, a researcher at the History, Territories and Communities unit (NOVA FCSH) and a professor at the Loures Conservatory of Arts and at the Military Polytechnic Unit – Military University Institute. He has given lectures in Portugal, Spain, Poland and Brazil. He is the author of four books (“Maestro Silva Dionísio (1912-2000) and the context of the music bands in Portugal”; “The Legacy for Blacks of Alfred Reed”; “The Clarinet in the Music for Band: Mark Romão dos Reis Júnior (1917-2000): Between Chamber Music and Music for Band Sing Borders in Gender and Culture, Cambridge Scholars Publishing; “The Music for the Aid Library Band: A contribution to your study and dissemination” – Our Music, Our World: Wind Bands and Life Life; In the last 150 years ” – 150 years of band music), a preface and articles published in the magazines: Hodie and Opus Music, from Brazil; Review of Portuguese Studies, Canada; Sciences and Humanities, from Colombia; Estudios Bandísticos, from Spain (of which he is a member of the Scientific Committee); Convergences, Portuguese Journal of Musicology, Studia and European Review of Artistic Studies, Portugal. He is also co-author of a book on the history of the Air Force Music Band, currently in development. In 2017, he organized the colloquium “Bands and wind music: (Re)thinking local stories and success stories”, at NOVA FCSH, the first held in Portugal entirely dedicated to this theme. At this college, he co-supervised a master’s dissertation in Heritage on the Banda da Armada (19 points) and co-supervised a doctoral thesis in History. He has been an examiner in Masters and Doctorate exams at the Universities of Coimbra and Aveiro. He has a Postgraduate Degree in Law (FDUL / IDN), which he completed with 16 points.
