Ana Louro (June 16th, 1987) is Geographer and researcher at the Centre for Geographical Studies, University of Lisbon, since 2010. Graduated in Geography, Human area (FLUL-UL, 2008). Held a Master in Spatial Management and Urbanism (IGOT-UL, 2011), with the thesis “The use of time associated with the mobility of families as a differentiating factor in setting up a sustainable community”. In 2019, completed her PhD in Geography, specialization in Regional and Urban Planning (IGOT-UL, 2012 -2019), funded by FCT (PhD Scholarship SFRH/BD/85150/2012). She also has a Master in Education of Geography (IGOT). Her research topics are related with urban sustainability and sustainable communities, uses of time and daily life of families, urban mobility and sustainable urban mobility plans, healthy and livable cities, Cohesion Policy and monitoring and evaluation of policies. She has collaborated on several national research projects (eg. INCAP, SPOTIA, FURBS, Quality of Life and Management of the city), international research projects (eg. EuroBroadMap, Local Health Promotion for Construction of Healthy Cities), beyond the participation in service provision activities being part of the portuguese team mainly for EC / DG Region projects about the Cohesion Policy. Participated in several symposia and national and international scientific seminars, related to her research topics, projects and theses, published several chapters and articles in peer reviewed scientific journals, and contributed to the organization of nacional and international scientific events (AESOP 2017 Congress, 12th IUPEA Symposium 2016, RSA Workshop on the EU Cohesion Policy 2015; IV RIDOT Workshop 2015).

Ana Luísa Ribeiro da Silva graduated in Biochemistry by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon in 1998. After two years as a FCT Scientific Initiation Fellow at the Instituto Português de Oncologia (IPO, Lisbon), was FCT research fellow for an additional year at the Instituto Nacional de Saúde, Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA, Lisbon), where she consolidated her scientific training before perusing her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Luísa Romão ( INSA, Lisbon). In 2008 she received her PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics by the University of Lisbon and was awarded a Post-Doctoral fellowship by FCT, under the supervision of Dr. Margarida Amaral (FCUL, Lisboa) and Dr. Luísa Romão (INSA, Lisbon. Upon finishing her post-doc training in 2010, she expanded her research interests into the oncobiology field and I joined the Molecular Endocrinology group at the Instituto Português de Oncologia (IPO, Lisbon). At the beginning of 2016 had the opportunity to start her own independent research and integrated the Department of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism in the Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Norte EPE (CHULN) and the Ecogenetics and Human Health unit of the Instituto de Saúde Ambiental (ISAMB), a R&D centre at FMUL. Is also Invited Assistant Professor at Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa since 2021 and Invited Assistant Professor at Católica Medical Scholl, Universidade Católica Portuguesa since 2022 . Published 29 articles in journals. Has 2 sections of books. Organized 3 events. Co-supervised 1 PhD thesis. Supervised 11 MSc dissertations e co-supervised 1. Has received 10 awards and honors. Extensive work experience in forests consulting projects, Environmental Impact Diagnosis, Management and Conservation of Watersheds; Landscape Ecology, Forestry and Agroforestry Systems ; Teaching in Research, Forestry, Landscape Ecology, Flora and Ethnoecology. Direction and jury of thesis in Landscape Design Master of Pontificia Bolivariana University. Experience of work with indigenous and rural communities.

Ana Paula de Mira do Carmo Pereira. I graduated in Biology (1981/06/30) at Faculdade de Ciências de Lisboa, University of Lisbon, and obtained a Master’s degree in Integrated Protection (1996/09/30) at Instituto Superior de Agronomia – Scholl of Agronomy, University of Lisbon and defended public examination, equivalent to PH.D. Degree at Instituto de Investigação Científica Tropical (IICT) – Tropical Research Institute of Portugal (1999/11/26). I held positions as a Junior Research Worker (1987 – 1990), Assistant Research Worker (1990 – 1999), and a Researcher (1999 – 2015) at the Tropical Research Institute (IICT). Since 2015, I have been a researcher at Coffee Rusts Reseach Center (CIFC), a research unit of ISA, University of Lisbon. I joined the CIFC/IICT team since 2006. I am a full member of the Research Center Linking Landscape, Environment, Agriculture and Food (LEAF/ISA) and the Associated Laboratory Terra. I have published 10 original research papers, including peer-reviewed articles in reputed SCI journals (e.g., PlosONE; Plant Disease; Plant Pathology). I have published 3 book chapters and conference proceedings. I have collaborated in the supervision of 2 Master’s thesis, 3 undergraduate thesis, and training students and technicians. I have also participated in dissemination activities (e.g. Ciência Viva, ISA Open Day). As a team member I participated in 10 projects. I have been developing research activities in Agrarian Sciences mainly in Agriculture area, namely Protection of plants. In my professional activities interacted with 94 collaborators as co-author of scientific papers. Ana Paula Pires holds a PhD in History from NOVA University of Lisbon. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Azores. Pires was a post-doc at Stanford University (2016-2019) and from September to December 2019 a Remarque Fellow at the University of New York, where she is currently a Visiting Scholar. Her main area of research is the economic and social history of the First World War, particularly its impact in Portugal and in Africa. Author of A Grande Guerra no Parlamento (with Maria Fernanda Rollo) (Lisbon, Divisão de Edições da Assembleia da República, 2018), Portugal e a I Guerra Mundial. A República e a Economia de Guerra (Casal de Cambra, Caleidoscópio, 2011), and co-editor of The Global First World War (with María Inés Tato and Jan Schmidt, Routledge, 2020), Guerras del siglo XX. Ana Paula Ferreira Ramos. She completed her PhD in Agronomic Engineering in 2010/12 at the University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior de Agronomia. She is Assistant Professor at the University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Researcher at the University of Lisbon, Research Center LINKING LANDSCAPE, ENVIRONMENT, AGRICULTURE AND FOOD – LEAF, Coordinator of the Laboratory of Plant Pathology “Veríssimo de Almeida” at the University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior of Agronomy. PhD in 1991 in Physical Geography, specializing in Geomorphology, from the University of Lisbon. Aggregation in 2006 by the University of Lisbon. Full Professor at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon (IGOT-UL) since 2013. Member of the IGOT Assembly, between 2009 and 2011, and member of the Scientific Council of IGOT-UL, since 2009. Researcher at CEG, since 1977, and coordinator of the SLIF Research Center between 2009 and 2016 – Coastal and River Systems: Dynamics, Environmental Changes and Spatial Planning. Since 1991, he has coordinated and participated in 18 competitive budget research projects and service provision contracts within the scope of national, regional and municipal territorial planning. He has provided consultancy in the field of Coastal Dynamics and Integrated Coastal Zone Management and Spatial Planning to national and international organizations (MAOT, IPCC). He has supervised several Master’s and Doctoral theses since 1991, and supervised the research of Master’s, Doctoral and Post-Doctoral scholarship holders. Referee of scientific publications (Portuguese Association of Geomorphologists since 2001; of the Finisterra Magazine – Portuguese Journal of Geography, since 1995). Ana Isabel Faria Ribeiro-Barros (ARB), PhD Plant Molecular Biology, MSc Biotechnology – Plant and Microbial Production (Wageningen University). He completed his PhD in Biology in 2014 from the University of Lisbon and a Degree in Biology in 2005 from Universidade Lusófona. She has been an Assistant Professor at Lusófona University since 2009 and a Researcher in the recent research group at the School of Life Sciences, Lusófona University. Since 2009, he has worked with several animal welfare organizations at a national and international level in the management of stray cat colonies, as a way of preserving biodiversity. In 2023, he joined the Postgraduate Course in Animal Welfare at the University of Porto as a teacher, where he taught the Animal Welfare modules for municipal veterinarians. She is a trainer and consultant in the area of ​​Animal Welfare at the Zoófila Organization – Public Utility – Street Animals, working essentially with city halls in establishing protocols for the implementation of sterilization programs for street animals as a measure to manage birth rates. He is also a representative of the same organization in the Eurogroup for Animals, Cats & Dogs group. Dedicated to shelter medicine since 2009, it has organized several events in the area, the last one in September 2023 with the WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) and the ICC (International Cat Care).

Ana Teresa Madeira Sarmento is a nutritionist (community nutrition and public health specialist) and a researcher. She has a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics (2009) and a master degree in Metabolic Diseases and Food Behaviour (2013), both from Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Lisboa (FMUL). Teresa has worked as a clinical nutritionist, food safety auditor and lecturer. Since 2014, she is a researcher at Instituto de Medicina Preventiva (Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health) and Instituto de Saúde Ambiental (Institute of Environmental Health), FMUL. Teresa was the executive coordinator of the PEN-3S project, promoted by FMUL and financed by the EEA Grants Financial Mechanism. PEN-3S’ main aim was to characterise the nutritional status and food intake of community-dwelling and nursing home residents aged 65+ in Portugal. Proceeding her work as a PEN-3S researcher, Teresa concluded her PhD on nutrition and ageing at FMUL in 2022. Since September 2020 she is also Invited Assistant at FMUL, and Invited Adjunct Professor at Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies (Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril, ESHTE).

André M. de Almeida was born in Lisbon (Portugal), December 1974. AM Almeida obtained a Degree in Animal Science by the University of Évora (1998), an MSc in Tropical Veterinary Medicine by the Fac. Vet. Medicine (Lisbon, 2000) and a PhD in Biology by the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica of the New University of Lisbon (ITQB, 2005). AM Almeida was a Researcher at the Instituto de Investigação Científica Tropical (Lisboa, Portugal) from 2008-2014, after a 3 year post-doc at the same institution. AM Almeida was Professor of Animal Nutrition and Animal Science at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (St. Kitts, West Indies) during 2015 and 2016. Since 2017 he is Professor of Animal Science at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Lisbon (Portugal). AM Almeida has made research stays at several institutions outside of Portugal: CSIC/IBMB Molecular Biology Institute Barcelona (Spain), University of the Free State (South Africa), Dryland Research Station (WA, Australia), the USDA (Ames, IA, USA) and Agresearch (Lincoln, New Zealand), among others. Research interests are vast but are mainly dedicated to studies of nutritional physiology and production of sfarm animals in general, using Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry. AM Almeida participate(d) in numerous national and international Research projects and was awarded a visiting Scientist Research grant from the government of the State of Western Australia (Perth, WA, Australia) and was Vice-Chair of COST action FA1002 – Proteomics in Farm Animals, financed by the European Science Foundation. Research collaborations include: CSIC/IBMB (Spain), Dryland Research Station (Australia), AgResearch (New Zealand), University of Aarhus (Denmark), University of Bonn (Germany), Canary Islands Agronomical Research, Institute (Spain), University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain), University of the Free State (South Africa), Rothamstead Research (UK), CIRAD/INRA (Guadeloupe, FWI, France) and more recently the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Košice (Slovakia); and in Portugal, the University of Évora, the Faculty of Sciences (Lisbon), the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Lisbon), the Agronomical Research Institute (Lisbon), the National Animal Science Research Station (Santarém) and the Marine Sciences Research Centre (Oporto). AM Almeida has finally participated as a consultant to two Development Projects in Guinea Bissau, financed by the European Commission and is a member of COST evaluation committee. He is an evaluator for project grants for the PRIM/H2020 foundation. AM Almeida has published 4 books, 24 international book chapters (including one edited by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations) and over 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, as well as numerous International Congress Proceedings and technical publications. AM Almeida is presently the editor in chief of Tropical Animal Health and Production (Springer) and an invited editor of Journal of Proteomics (Elsevier) and is a regular reviewer for several journals. AM Almeida has presented over 50 posters and oral communications in international conferences and lectured several invited oral presentations in Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Turkey, Austria, the USA, Australia and New Zealand, among others. André Almeida currently supervises five PhD students, numerous MSc students and one Post-doctoral fellow, and has been a member of the jury of PhD thesis in Portugal, France and Spain.

André Sucena Afonso completed his PhD in Marine, Earth and Environmental Sciences in 2013 at the University of Algarve Faculty of Science and Technology and a B.Sc. in Biology in 2004 at the University of Lisbon Faculty of Science. He is an Assistant Researcher at the Functional Ecology Center of the Life Sciences Department of the University of Coimbra. He has published 42 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, with > 1000 citations. He has written 1 book chapter and organized 3 events. He co-supervised 1 doctoral thesis and supervised 7 master’s dissertations and 3 undergraduate/bachelor’s degree dissertations. He received 3 awards and/or honors. Participated as a Doctoral Fellow in 1 project, Scientific Initiation Fellow in 1 project, Research Fellow in 2 projects, Post-Doctoral Fellow in 2 projects, Researcher in 4 projects and Principal Investigator in 5 projects. In his professional activities he has interacted with dozens of collaborators in co-authoring scientific papers.
