Cátia Caneiras

Catia Caneiras has an integrated master degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2007), a MSc in Clinical Microbiology (2009) and a PhD in Health Sciences and Technologies with specialty in Microbiology (2019). She is an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Universidade de Lisboa (Medicine) and Assistant Professor at Egas Moniz School of Health and Science (Pharmaceutical Sciences). She is also Scientific and Board Director of Home Healthcare Department at Nippon Gases Portugal and Executive Director at the Portuguese Home Healthcare Association (APCSD). She is also the Board Director for Science, Education & Professional Development of Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society (SRSRA). Moreover, she is the Coordinator of the Microbiology Research Laboratory in Environmental Health (EnviHealthMicro Lab) of the Institute of Environmental Health (ISAMB) at the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidade de Lisboa (2019-), Coordinator of the thematic line Health, Society and Environment at Associate Laboratory TERRA (2023-). She has already published over 36 full papers in peer-reviewed international journals and 20 books or books chapters. C. Caneiras reviewed approx. 98 papers published in international journals being guest editor of three special issues. In addition, C. Caneiras is author or co-author of 114 oral communications and 108 posters in international and national meetings. She has received 18 awards/honours. C. Caneiras has supervised three PhD theses (completed) and is currently supervising four PhD and two master students. She has participated in national and international funded research projects grants, highlighting a novel equipment development at EIT Health Innovation Call 2023 (Bactometer, 75K¿) and European Union Horizon 2020 funding (CoroPrevention 22.6M¿). Finally, C. Caneiras has integrated the Organizing Committee of several international and national meetings and participates regularly in public outreach activities. Her research interests include the Public and Environmental Health, Genomics, and Microbiology and the main line of research is the study of antimicrobial resistance under One Health approach, particularly in the field of molecular epidemiology and genetic traits of gram-negative bacteria. These studies could contribute to the development of novel diagnostic, surveillance, and therapeutic strategies to these difficult-to-treat infections.
