Senior lecturer at the Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies (Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril – ESHTE) since 2004. Member of ESHTE’s General Council since 2021. She teaches the following curricular units (CU): CU Cultural Management and Programming and CU Planning and Management in Tourism Entertainment (1st Cycle Degree in Leisure Management and Tourism Entertainment); CU English III, English IV, English V and English VI (B1.1. to C1.1 CEFR levels) (1st Cycle Degree in Tourism Management and Tourism Information); CU Cultural and Urban Tourism (Master’s Degree in Tourism); CU Urban Cultures and Sensorial Tourism and CU Communication and Culture (Master’s Degre in Tourism and Communication, IGOT-ULisboa/ESHTE); Food Cultures (Master’s Degree in Food Design); CU Seminar in Innovation (PhD in Tourism, IGOT-ULisboa/ESHTE). She has supervised 17 master’s degree students (concluded) in the areas of tourism and leisure and foreign languages. Senior researcher at the Centre of Geographical Studies, Associated Laboratory TERRA, IGOT-ULisboa since 2013. Her teaching and research areas of interest include: Urban Cultural Studies, Urban Sociology, Cultural Geography, Tourism and Leisure, Tourism and Education, Inclusive Tourism, Community-based Tourism, the Commons, Intergenerationality, Languages for Specific Purposes, Pedagogy, and Active Teaching-Learning Methodologies. Since 2014, she has participated as a member of collaborator of different research projects funded by the Portuguese Agency for Science and Technology (FCT), the Portuguese General Directorate for Higher Education (DGES), the Erasmus+ Portuguese Agency, the European Cultural Foundation, and Leonardo da Vinci. She has presented c. 100 talks at national and international conferences and she is the author of up to 50 publications, namely the book Reinventing a Small, Worldly City: The Cultural and Social Transformation of Cardiff, published in 2017 by Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group. She has been the recipient of up to 20 grants, distinctions, and prizes by renowned institutions (European Cultural Foundation, Europa Nostra Awards, ENCATC, FCT, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Marie Curie Actions, Luso-American Foundation, and the Portuguese National Agency for Innovation – ANI). She has also been an external expert/evaluator for the European Commission (Directorate-General Regional and Urban Policy and Research Executive Agency), the Erasmus+ National Agency, and the Fundação Cidade de Lisboa (Lisbon City Foundation), as well as a reviewer for more than 15 national and international journals in urban studies, cultural studies, tourism, intergenerational studies, education, and languages. She is Associate Editor of the Journal of Intergenerational Relationships and Member of the Editorial Board of the Language Learning in Higher Education, the New Trends in Qualitative Research journal, the Ler Educação, and EduSer. She is also a member of the executive committee of ReCLes.pt – the Portuguese Association of Language Centres in Portuguese Higher Education since 2021.
