Alina Esteves completed her PhD in Geography on 2005/04/21 at the University of Lisbon. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Lisbon Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning. Co-coordinator of the Migrare Research Group – Migrations, Spaces and Societies at the Center for Geographical Studies. Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Human Geography at IGOT-ULisboa. Member of the School Council of IGOT-ULisboa. Country coordinator for Portugal of the “European Web Site on Integration” (EWSI), whose general coordination is ensured by the Migration Policy Group (Brussels). Member (representative of teachers) of the Equality Committee of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon. He has published several articles in specialized journals in the area of migration (Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies), population (Population, Space and Place), Geography (Finisterra). He works in the area(s) of Social Sciences with an emphasis on Economic and Social Geography and has participated in several national and international projects with competitive funding. It is part of the network of research centers in the area of international migration – IMISCOE. He has supervised several doctoral and master’s students in the areas of Economic and Social Geography.
