Akli Benali completed the Integrated Masters in Environmental Enginnering in 2008 by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia and the PhD in Sustainable Forests and Products in 2018 by the Universidade de Lisboa Instituto Superior de Agronomia, where he is currently a Researcher. He has participated in more than 10 research and consulting projects, with different associated roles. He has published around 30 scientific papers, most of them, in relevant journals. In the last years, he has fostered the research and development of scientific work that can be applied in practice by stakeholders related with wildfires and landscape management. He has developed multiple partnerships with practicitioners, such as the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, Special Civil Protection Force, Municipalities, Forest Associations and land owners. Akli Benali continues to pursue the implementation of scientific knowledge and products with the aim of improving decision-making in the prevention, suppression and recovery of wildfires in Portugal.
